A Little About Myself...

"He is a jack-of-all-trades musician.  There is nothing he can't do."

-Paula Gallitano

"A wonderful musician but more importantly, a dedicated worker"

-Jeff Harrington

Music needs to be treated with more quality than ever these days. My goal is to be a true musician, someone who takes quality time to learn and develop my craft. I think the most characterizing term to describe myself as a musician is versatile.

I began playing saxophone at age 8 and guitar a year after.  I come from a very disciplined performance background, first studying classical and jazz at the Hochstein School of Music in Rochester, NY with Nancy Boone-Barr and Dick Delaney. My trainings in music have taken me to study at Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA, with Jeff Harrington, Dino Govoni, Shannon LeClaire, and Fred Lispius.  I have also taken lessons on guitar from several Berklee colleagues. I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Professional Music with Concentrations in Performance, Songwriting, and Music Business.

As a composer…

I enjoy transcribing solos and arrangements for horns, re-harmonizing pop tunes and standards, composing for SATB choir, and co-writing.  My work here is both personal and collaborative; best noted in areas of arranging, producing, top line writing, and adding to the overall harmonic language.

As a producer…

As an artist…

Songwriting is an art form in itself.  Melody, form, rhythm, and harmony are viewed from a new perspective when considering the lyrical relationship. Erin Barra has called me: “the definition of a true lyricist.”  I think having a deeper understanding for literature and poetry is essential for any lyricist.  It’s all about having a story to tell and singing it from the soul.  I strive to become an artist that is deeply personal, and unashamed to express who I am.

As a leader in music…

I currently serve as Music Director at Journey Church in Rochester, NY.  I have taught Choir and Music Theory courses at Wayne Central High School. I have also been the bandleader for “The Post-Season”, a former gigging band around Boston playing originals and covers.  I have also been the Musical Director for the group “Free Harmony”, a side project that re-arranges hip hop songs.  Outside of music I am also an Eagle Scout, Black Belt, and was Varsity Captain for my high school soccer team.  All of these roles have taught me how to be a stronger leader in my ensembles and for my community.

As a lover of music…

I think all musicians seek to be free- I like to challenge other musicians by asking them, if you learned all the rules of music, which ones would you break?
